This will ensure that the lender will get repaid for the money they borrowed to you. By using the collateral in your home, lenders are able to keep interest rates down and sometimes with an online home improvement loan lender they are able to offer lower interest rates than some banks or financial institutions will. As long as you have sufficient equity in your home someone who has less than perfect credit can even lock in a good interest rate on the loan that best suits there needs.

Female pilots prove there's no glass ceiling
ST. ANDREWS -- By day, they're our real estate agents, veterinarians, nurses and farmers.
Come the weekend, they're zipping around in their airplanes, travelling to the nooks and crannies of the Canadian landscape, tiny places many have barely even heard of.
Twelve women pilots landed their Cessnas and Piper Cherokees on the hot tarmac of the St. Andrews airport Sunday evening, under the big sky country of the Manitoba prairie.
The women made their brief stay as part of the Gold Cup Air Rally, a three-day all-women competition that's taken them from Hanover, Ont., across the Canadian Shield and into Canada's heartland.
"Everybody who flies loves it," said Marilyn Dickson, the rally's organizer from Ontario, a tad sunburned and all smiles while she unpacked luggage from her plane's tiny storage compartment.
The rally began in 2000 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Canadian chapter of the Ninety-Nines, an international organization of women pilots.
Each year, the rally tests pilots' knowledge of aviation history and sharpens their skills, such as how to calculate how much fuel they'll burn on legs of their trip.
"We wanted to have a flying experience for women that is interesting, challenging and fun," said Dickson, a two-time cup winner. "It's the sense of achievement when you plan a flight to some place you've never been before. You get in your airplane and there are no road signs along the way, so you just have to look at the ground, figure out where you are, and just get there."
Wendy Cragg, competing in her first rally, said when she turned 45, learning how to fly was one of those things she just had to knock off the old bucket list.
"Experiences like this where a group gets to travel across the country and meet the community are incredible," said the massage therapist who has been flying for seven years.
"The camaraderie is excellent and it's a great group of people to travel with.
"It's a very caring group, we all look after each other and it's a lot of fun."
The rally proves that when they're flying some 10,000 feet in the air, there's no such thing as a glass ceiling -- even though female pilots are rare, Dickson admitted.
"There isn't a glass ceiling in our minds, because we're doing it," she said

What we have lost over the last
What we have lost over the last several thousand years, is our ability to access our own common sense. "Sense" being the key word. We know longer can feel, see or hear what is good for us because of the noise around us. Once we regain control of our sensibility or senses, we become powerful love magnets simply because we know what direction to take and WHY we are moving in that direction. Imagine being IN LOVE and knowing why and how you got there? This is where and when you get to revel in the POWER of LOVE.
Thoughtfully,
Zannah

FIBA, a Florida based trade association of international banks, said it offers targeted training and e-learning to the banking industry.
According to a release, the latest addition to the FIBA offering is the International Trade Finance course. Based on a series of modules which cover eight areas of trade finance, the course covers Export Letters of Credit, Standby Letters of Credit, Structuring and Monitoring Trade Loans, and International Payment Terms. The course is offered in both English and Spanish.
"In order for the banking industry to accompany the anticipated growth in U.S. exports over the next 5 years, we will need to train more professionals in the field, and enhance the skills of those already in the business," said Patricia Roth, FIBA's Executive Director. "This online course fits both the academic needs and the demanding work schedules of financial professionals who travel or who don't have "in person" access to quality training courses."
"FIBA has been a leading organization in training and education for many years. With the addition of e-learning, FIBA is now able to meet the needs of banks around the world with respect to practical training and sharing best practices," said John Rodriguez, President of FIBA.
FIBA also offers a Certification program in Anti Money Laundering through its FIBA Anti Money Laundering Institute, in partnership with Florida International University

Got debt? How to stop calls from bill collectors
Got debt? How to stop calls from bill collectors
0 Comments | Westside Gazette, May 13-May 19, 2010 | by Cox, Lynn
On my free financial advice blog, AskTheMoneyCoach.com, I get a lot of questions about how to handle debt collection agencies. But what about you; Have you ever hand an irate bill collector call you and demand payment on a debt?
If any debt collection firms are harassing you - by constantly calling you all hours of the day or night, contacting you on the job when you say you can't get calls there, or using profane and threatening language - such harassment is illegal and you can make them stop immediately.
"Cease Contact" or Cease and Desist" Letter
Simply write a brief letter advising them to cease all contact with you. The fist sentence should say: "I am unable to pay this bill, because..." and explain your reason. You might be unable to pay because you are unemployed, sick, or going through a divorce. You might refuse to pay a debt because it's not your responsibility, you dispute the amount being demanded, or the statue of limitations as expired on the debt (meaning the debt is too old to be legally enforced).
You also have the option of not providing a reason at all. If you provide no reason, the second sentence of your letter should state: "I hereby assert my right, under section 805-C of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, to request that you cease any further communication with me." (In the back on my book, Zero Debt, you will find a sample 'Cease & Desist Letter.' This basic language is all you need to communicate to debt collectors to get them off your back).
After they receive your 'Cease & Desist' letter, debt collection firms can't contact you, except to indicate that the collection process against you has stopped, or that they plan to take, or recommend that your original creditor, take, legal action against you, such as taking you to court. Even then, debt collectors can't threaten legal action unless they truly intend to take it. Either way, the annoying phone calls and those harassing letters will immediately end.
"Usually (collectors) will say they'll proceed with court action and it's not true," says former collection agent John Bowe

PrePPing kids for school
PrePPing kids for school
0 Comments | Idaho State Journal; Pocatello, Idaho, Jul 25, 2010
As the summer draws to a close, the thoughts of many parents turn to the upcoming school year. Kids and families will soon be scouring the stores for the best deals on backpacks , school supplies, and clothing. But school can also be a time of frustration and embarrassment for many kids -- especially if they have weight issues. Bombarded with busy schedules and sometimes less-than-optimal food choices, kids can be overwhelmed with the emotional issues they have to face in the classroom or in the playground.
To give your child the best start this year, begin planning now. Get in the habit of eating breakfast, lunch, dinner, and healthy snacks. Talk about high sugar foods and their effect on blood sugar levels, concentration and memory , and body fat. Starting the day with cold cereal or pastries is most often a recipe for disaster. Kids, as well as adults, metabolize these foods quickly but then are left running on empty just a few hours later. If your child is hungry more often than you think she/he should be, or has fluctuating energy levels or moods, take a look at what they're eating. Each meal and snack should contain some protein to "balance" the effect of the carbohydrates on their blood sugar levels. Paying attention in class or taking an exam is challenging enough without radic in ar In m c a of carbohydrates (think bread, cereal, rice, pasta, cookies, crackers, cakes, donuts, pretzels, etc.) can cause an insulin response that makes it easy for the body to store fat -- especially in the belly area. Protein can help modulate this response.
Protein foods can also help regulate our moods. When we eat foods high in protein, they are broken down into tiny pieces called amino acids. These amino acids are the building blocks for several chemicals in our bodies including the neurotransmitters our brains make. If we don't have the building blocks, we may have issues with depression, anxiety, attention deficit disorder, and more. Protein foods also help keep us full for longer periods of time, which may minimize snacking on junk food.
Understanding the role of nutrition and the effects it has on our bodies -- and the bodies of our children -- is vital for good health and good performance in school. If you'd like more information on this subject , please attend our free class on Tuesday, Aug

Research the company beforehand. Even before you
Research the company beforehand. Even before you apply for a job at any company, you should investigate them. Is this a company you would want to work for? Know exactly why it is. If not, then why are you there? Research also reduces the possibility of embarrassing questions on your part. Learn the company's products or services, their size and annual revenues (if they are a public company).
Go to their website and check out their current press releases. You can extract some good nuggets here by finding out what products they've just introduced, what success stories they're promoting and their most recent stock performance and growth projections. Many challenges the company may be faced with could be couched in these little releases and it's good for you to use this to your advantage during the interview.
