Of course Turmeric

Of course Turmeric is a herb and in recent years has become quite popular in the Spice Rack of modern day kitchens.

The proper name for Turmeric is Zingiberaceae; it is a member of the Ginger family and is also known as Curcuma.

It has not been very widely researched in humans, however animal research has been conducted for many years and they have shown this herb to have a number of beneficial medical properties, such as an immune stimulant, a helpful treatment for arthritis, also may help in the prevention of some forms of cancer, heart disease, liver problems and the prevention of cataracts.

In the kitchen, Turmeric is used for giving curry the yellow coloring; it has been used for this purpose for thousands of years by Indians in the preparation of meals. It was also prescribed by Chinese physicians for various medical problems

Most of the research that has been done into the benefits of Turmeric has been done in India, because the scientists in the west had never shown much interest in the herb, until more recent times, this research has shown that it can help in the prevention of the following illnesses, Wounds, it does have some antibacterial properties, it has been effective against some strains of Salmonella, which causes food poisoning, it does have anti inflammatory effects which has helped with the pain associated with arthritis and because it contains antioxidants, it can help in the prevention of cancer and cataracts.

Turmeric, as I have said is part of the Ginger family, which does help to lower cholesterol and blood pressure, studies with animals have shown Turmeric to have similar qualities.

Turmeric is listed as generally safe, and it should only be taken as medicine after consultation with a physician, because of its blood thinning qualities, it should not be taken with other types of blood thinning medications like Vitamin E or any prescribed anticoagulant.

It will not do any harm taken in small amounts such as you would put in curries or other savoury dishes, Large amounts taken could give stomach upsets.

The new role model spends

The new role model spends on his looks the same, or ewen more than the women. In many countries, like Japan, males have lost courage to ewen approach women and they stay at home living with their parents and spendig all their surplus money on fashionable accessories.

That kind of behaviour may not be good for them, but it is definitely good for all the new industires that came in a spree.

If you go out to clubs today you will not see anybody approaching women (if he is sober) and you will see people just checking each other out and doing nothing. Fathers tell to their sons that it was not like that back in the good old days, who knows, all fathers like to exaggerate but it is clear that something is not right today cause men have become less of a man and now they are called metrosexuals.

When Bill Clinton, by many the best president in history, cheats on his wife he is questioned in front of the whole world.

Picture how you will feel and what

Picture how you will feel and what you will do.

* What does being healthy feel like? What is your energy level like?

* How do you feel when you get up in the morning? Are you energized or exhausted at the end of the day?

*What can you do that you couldn?t easily do before?
How do your clothes fit? What do you wear now that you are pleased with your body? (Note, this is not the same thing as being ?thin!?)

*What is the biggest change in your health?

*How does your skin look and feel?

*What other benefits does good health hold for you?

This is more than an exercise, the more you can visualize what being healthy feels like and looks like, the more likely you are to follow through when the going gets tough. Getting and staying well will require sustained effort. When you are discouraged you can look back at your vision of health as well as your progress notes.

Use your journal as often as possible to record your progress, your feelings about exercise and healthy eating, and any other issues that come up for you.

Lloyd District will be Portland's first eco-district

Lloyd District will be Portland's first eco-district

Daily Journal of Commerce (Portland, OR), May 19, 2010 by Nathalie Weinstein

Portland's first eco-district pilot project is moving forward in the Lloyd District.

Naomi Cole of the Portland Oregon Sustainability Initiative says that project stakeholders have signed a declaration of cooperation to perform a pilot eco-district project in the Lloyd District.

An eco-district involves multiple property owners coming together to create a neighborhood that is efficient with energy, water and waste.

Project partners include the Portland Development Commission, regional government Metro, the city of Portland, Portland Oregon Sustainability Initiative, Lloyd Transportation Management Association and the Lloyd Business Improvement District.

"Lloyd District is well positioned because they have a history of multiple property owners working together with the Lloyd Transportation Management Association," Cole said. "Now we are focused on forming a government structure with these groups around energy, water and habitat resource management."

The Lloyd Transportation Management Association is a nonprofit that provides services and programs to encourage Lloyd District employees to take alternative transportation. Along with the Lloyd Business Improvement District, the Lloyd TMA will provide $300,000 per year for three years for the eco-district pilot.

The next step will be to get the area's property owners to sign on to the project. The Oregon Convention Center, Ashforth Pacific and Lloyd District Mall are three major property holders in the area. Cole expects to have signatures from property owners by the end of the month

This will ensure

This will ensure that the lender will get repaid for the money they borrowed to you. By using the collateral in your home, lenders are able to keep interest rates down and sometimes with an online home improvement loan lender they are able to offer lower interest rates than some banks or financial institutions will. As long as you have sufficient equity in your home someone who has less than perfect credit can even lock in a good interest rate on the loan that best suits there needs.

Proper research for an Online Home Improvement Loan

The best way to receive the loan that suits your needs is knowing how to look for them.

Flygirls rally for Gold Cup

Flygirls rally for Gold Cup

Female pilots prove there's no glass ceiling

ST. ANDREWS -- By day, they're our real estate agents, veterinarians, nurses and farmers.

Come the weekend, they're zipping around in their airplanes, travelling to the nooks and crannies of the Canadian landscape, tiny places many have barely even heard of.

Twelve women pilots landed their Cessnas and Piper Cherokees on the hot tarmac of the St. Andrews airport Sunday evening, under the big sky country of the Manitoba prairie.

The women made their brief stay as part of the Gold Cup Air Rally, a three-day all-women competition that's taken them from Hanover, Ont., across the Canadian Shield and into Canada's heartland.

"Everybody who flies loves it," said Marilyn Dickson, the rally's organizer from Ontario, a tad sunburned and all smiles while she unpacked luggage from her plane's tiny storage compartment.

The rally began in 2000 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Canadian chapter of the Ninety-Nines, an international organization of women pilots.

Each year, the rally tests pilots' knowledge of aviation history and sharpens their skills, such as how to calculate how much fuel they'll burn on legs of their trip.

"We wanted to have a flying experience for women that is interesting, challenging and fun," said Dickson, a two-time cup winner. "It's the sense of achievement when you plan a flight to some place you've never been before. You get in your airplane and there are no road signs along the way, so you just have to look at the ground, figure out where you are, and just get there."

Wendy Cragg, competing in her first rally, said when she turned 45, learning how to fly was one of those things she just had to knock off the old bucket list.

"Experiences like this where a group gets to travel across the country and meet the community are incredible," said the massage therapist who has been flying for seven years.

"The camaraderie is excellent and it's a great group of people to travel with.

"It's a very caring group, we all look after each other and it's a lot of fun."

The rally proves that when they're flying some 10,000 feet in the air, there's no such thing as a glass ceiling -- even though female pilots are rare, Dickson admitted.

"There isn't a glass ceiling in our minds, because we're doing it," she said
